Galatians chapter 4

Galatians 4:1: ^A Aþþan qiþa: swalaud melis swe arbinumja niuklahs ist, ni und waiht iusiza ist skalka, frauja allaize wisands;; — λέγω δέ, ἐφ' ὅσον χρόνον ὁ κληρονόμος νήπιός ἐστιν, οὐδὲν διαφέρει δούλου κύριος πάντων ὤν,; — Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
Galatians 4:2: ^A akei uf raginjam ist jah fauragaggam und garehsn attins.; — ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ ἐπιτρόπους ἐστὶν καὶ οἰκονόμους ἄχρι τῆς προθεσμίας τοῦ πατρός.; — But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
Galatians 4:3: ^A swa jah weis, þan wesum barniskai, uf stabim þis fairhvaus wesum skalkinondans.; — οὕτως καὶ ἡμεῖς, ὅτε ἦμεν νήπιοι, ὑπὸ τὰ στοιχεῖα τοῦ κόσμου ἤμεθα δεδουλωμένοι:; — Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
Galatians 4:4: ^A iþ biþe qam usfulleins melis, insandida guþ sunu seinana, waurþanana us qinon, waurþanana uf witoda,; — ὅτε δὲ ἦλθεν τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ χρόνου, ἐξαπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, γενόμενον ἐκ γυναικός, γενόμενον ὑπὸ νόμον,; — But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Galatians 4:5: ^A ei þans uf witoda usbauht[id]edi, ei suniwe sibja andnimaima.; — ἵνα τοὺς ὑπὸ νόμον ἐξαγοράσῃ, ἵνα τὴν υἱοθεσίαν ἀπολάβωμεν.; — To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Galatians 4:6: ^A aþþan þatei sijuþ jus sunjus gudis, insandida guþ ahman sunaus seinis in hairtona izwara hropjandan: abba, fadar!; — ὅτι δέ ἐστε υἱοί, ἐξαπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὰς καρδίας ἡμῶν, κρᾶζον, αββα ὁ πατήρ.; — And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:7: ^A swaei ni þanaseiþs is skalks, <ak sunus; iþ> þande sunus, jah arbja gudis þairh Xristu.; — ὥστε οὐκέτι εἶ δοῦλος ἀλλὰ υἱός: εἰ δὲ υἱός, καὶ κληρονόμος διὰ θεοῦ.; — Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Galatians 4:8: ^A akei þan sweþauh ni kunnandans guþ, þaim þoei wistai ni sind guda skalkinodeduþ;; — ἀλλὰ τότε μὲν οὐκ εἰδότες θεὸν ἐδουλεύσατε τοῖς φύσει μὴ οὖσιν θεοῖς:; — Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
Galatians 4:9: ^A iþ nu sai, ufkunnandans guþ, maizuþ~þan gakunnaidai fram guda, hvaiwa gawandideduþ izwis aftra du þaim unmahteigam jah halkam stabim, þaimei aftra iupana skalkinon wileiþ?; — νῦν δὲ γνόντες θεόν, μᾶλλον δὲ γνωσθέντες ὑπὸ θεοῦ, πῶς ἐπιστρέφετε πάλιν ἐπὶ τὰ ἀσθενῆ καὶ πτωχὰ στοιχεῖα, οἷς πάλιν ἄνωθεν δουλεύειν θέλετε;; — But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Galatians 4:10: ^A dagam witaiþ jah menoþum jah melam jah aþnam.; — ἡμέρας παρατηρεῖσθε καὶ μῆνας καὶ καιροὺς καὶ ἐνιαυτούς.; — Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
Galatians 4:11: ^A og izwis, ibai sware arbaididedjau in izwis.; — φοβοῦμαι ὑμᾶς μή πως εἰκῇ κεκοπίακα εἰς ὑμᾶς.; — I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
Galatians 4:12: ^A aþþan wairþaiþ swe ik, unte jah ik swe jus, broþrjus, bidja izwis. ni waiht mis gaskoþuþ.; — γίνεσθε ὡς ἐγώ, ὅτι κἀγὼ ὡς ὑμεῖς, ἀδελφοί, δέομαι ὑμῶν. οὐδέν με ἠδικήσατε:; — Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
Galatians 4:13: ^A wituþ þatei þairh siukein leikis aiwaggelida izwis þata frumo,; — οἴδατε δὲ ὅτι δι' ἀσθένειαν τῆς σαρκὸς εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν τὸ πρότερον,; — Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
Galatians 4:14: ^A jah fraistubnjai ana leika meinamma ni frakunþeduþ, ni andspiwuþ, ak swe aggelu gudis andnemuþ mik, swe Xristu Iesu.; — καὶ τὸν πειρασμὸν ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου οὐκ ἐξουθενήσατε οὐδὲ ἐξεπτύσατε, ἀλλὰ ὡς ἄγγελον θεοῦ ἐδέξασθέ με, ὡς χριστὸν ἰησοῦν.; — And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:15: ^A hvileika was nu audagei izwara? weitwodja auk izwis þatei jabai mahteig wesi, augona izwara usgrabandans atgebeiþ mis.; — ποῦ οὖν ὁ μακαρισμὸς ὑμῶν; μαρτυρῶ γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰ δυνατὸν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑμῶν ἐξορύξαντες ἐδώκατέ μοι.; — Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
Galatians 4:16: ^A iþ nu swe fijands izwis warþ, sunja gateihands izwis?; — ὥστε ἐχθρὸς ὑμῶν γέγονα ἀληθεύων ὑμῖν;; — Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Galatians 4:17: ^A aljanond izwis ni waila, ak usletan izwis wileina, ei im aljanoþ.; — ζηλοῦσιν ὑμᾶς οὐ καλῶς, ἀλλὰ ἐκκλεῖσαι ὑμᾶς θέλουσιν, ἵνα αὐτοὺς ζηλοῦτε.; — They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.
Galatians 4:18: ^A aþþan goþ ist aljanon in godamma sinteino, jan~ni þatainei in þammei ik sijau andwairþs at izwis.; — καλὸν δὲ ζηλοῦσθαι ἐν καλῷ πάντοτε, καὶ μὴ μόνον ἐν τῷ παρεῖναί με πρὸς ὑμᾶς,; — But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.
Galatians 4:19: ^A barnilona meina þanzei aftra fita, unte gabairhtjaidau Xristus in izwis.; ^B .... þanzei aftra fita, unte gabairhtjaidau Xristaus in izwis.; — τέκνα μου, οὓς πάλιν ὠδίνω μέχρις οὗ μορφωθῇ χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν:; — My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Galatians 4:20: ^{A + B} aþþan wilda qiman at izwis nu jah inmaidjan stibna meina; unte afslauþiþs im in izwis.; — ἤθελον δὲ παρεῖναι πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἄρτι, καὶ ἀλλάξαι τὴν φωνήν μου, ὅτι ἀποροῦμαι ἐν ὑμῖν.; — I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
Galatians 4:21: ^{A + B} qiþiþ mis, jus uf witoda wiljandans wisan, þata witoþ niu hauseiþ?; — λέγετέ μοι, οἱ ὑπὸ νόμον θέλοντες εἶναι, τὸν νόμον οὐκ ἀκούετε;; — Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
Galatians 4:22: ^{A + B} gameliþ ist auk þatei Abraham twans aihta sununs, ainana us þiujai jah ainana us frijai;; — γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι ἀβραὰμ δύο υἱοὺς ἔσχεν, ἕνα ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης καὶ ἕνα ἐκ τῆς ἐλευθέρας.; — For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Galatians 4:23: ^A akei þan sa us þiujai bi leika ....; ^B akei þan sa us þiujai bi leika gabaurans was, iþ sa us frijai bi gahaita;; — ἀλλ' ὁ μὲν ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης κατὰ σάρκα γεγέννηται, ὁ δὲ ἐκ τῆς ἐλευθέρας δι' ἐπαγγελίας.; — But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Galatians 4:24: ^B þatei sind aljaleikodos; þos auk sind twos triggwos: aina raihtis af fairgunja Seina in þiwadw bairandei, sei ist Agar;; — ἅτινά ἐστιν ἀλληγορούμενα: αὗται γάρ εἰσιν δύο διαθῆκαι, μία μὲν ἀπὸ ὄρους σινᾶ, εἰς δουλείαν γεννῶσα, ἥτις ἐστὶν ἁγάρ.; — Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
Galatians 4:25: ^B Seina fairguni ist in Arabia, gamarko<þ> þizai nu Iairusalem, iþ skalkinoþ miþ seinaim barnam.; — τὸ δὲ ἁγὰρ σινᾶ ὄρος ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ ἀραβίᾳ, συστοιχεῖ δὲ τῇ νῦν ἰερουσαλήμ, δουλεύει γὰρ μετὰ τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς.; — For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
Galatians 4:26: ^B iþ so iupa Iairusalem frija ist, sei ist aiþei unsara.; — ἡ δὲ ἄνω ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐλευθέρα ἐστίν, ἥτις ἐστὶν μήτηρ ἡμῶν:; — But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Galatians 4:27: ^B gameliþ ist auk: sifai stairo so unbairandei, tarmei jah hropei so ni fitandei, unte managa barna þizos auþjons mais þau þizos aigandeins aban.; — γέγραπται γάρ, εὐφράνθητι, στεῖρα ἡ οὐ τίκτουσα: ῥῆξον καὶ βόησον, ἡ οὐκ ὠδίνουσα: ὅτι πολλὰ τὰ τέκνα τῆς ἐρήμου μᾶλλον ἢ τῆς ἐχούσης τὸν ἄνδρα.; — For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Galatians 4:28: ^B aþþan weis, broþrjus, bi Isakis gahaita barna sium.; — ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, κατὰ ἰσαὰκ ἐπαγγελίας τέκνα ἐστέ.; — Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Galatians 4:29: ^B akei þan swaswe sa bi leika gabaurana wrak þana bi ahmin, swah jah nu.; — ἀλλ' ὥσπερ τότε ὁ κατὰ σάρκα γεννηθεὶς ἐδίωκεν τὸν κατὰ πνεῦμα, οὕτως καὶ νῦν.; — But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Galatians 4:30: ^B akei hva qiþiþ þata gamelido? uswairp þizai þiujai jah þamma sunau izos; unte ni nimiþ arbi sunus þiujos miþ sunau frijaizos.; — ἀλλὰ τί λέγει ἡ γραφή; ἔκβαλε τὴν παιδίσκην καὶ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς, οὐ γὰρ μὴ κληρονομήσει ὁ υἱὸς τῆς παιδίσκης μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς ἐλευθέρας.; — Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
Galatians 4:31: ^B þannu nu, broþrjus, ni sijum þiujos barna, ak frijaizos; — διό, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἐσμὲν παιδίσκης τέκνα ἀλλὰ τῆς ἐλευθέρας.; — So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
