John chapter 18

John 18:1: ^CA Þata qiþands Iesus usiddja miþ siponjam seinaim ufar rinnon þo Kaidron, þarei was aurtigards, in þanei galaiþ Iesus jah siponjos is.; — When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.; — ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἰησοῦς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ πέραν τοῦ χειμάρρου τοῦ κεδρὼν ὅπου ἦν κῆπος, εἰς ὃν εἰσῆλθεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.
John 18:2: ^CA wissuh þan jah Iudas sa galewjands ina þana stad, þatei ufta gaïddja Iesus jainar miþ siponjam seinaim.; — And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.; — ᾔδει δὲ καὶ ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν τὸν τόπον, ὅτι πολλάκις συνήχθη ἰησοῦς ἐκεῖ μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ.
John 18:3: ^CA iþ Iudas nam hansa jah þize gudjane jah Fareisaie andbahtans, iddjuh jaindwairþs miþ skeimam jah haizam jah wepnam.; — Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.; — ὁ οὖν ἰούδας λαβὼν τὴν σπεῖραν καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ ἐκ τῶν φαρισαίων ὑπηρέτας ἔρχεται ἐκεῖ μετὰ φανῶν καὶ λαμπάδων καὶ ὅπλων.
John 18:4: ^CA iþ Iesus witands alla þoei qemun ana ina, usgaggands ut qaþ im: hvana sokeiþ?; — Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?; — ἰησοῦς οὖν εἰδὼς πάντα τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἐξῆλθεν καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, τίνα ζητεῖτε;
John 18:5: ^CA andhafjandans imma qeþun: Iesu, þana Nazoraiu. þaruh qaþ im Iesus: ik im. stoþuh þan jah Iudas sa lewjands ina miþ im.; — They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.; — ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ, ἰησοῦν τὸν ναζωραῖον. λέγει αὐτοῖς, ἐγώ εἰμι. εἱστήκει δὲ καὶ ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν μετ' αὐτῶν.
John 18:6: ^CA þaruh swe qaþ im þatei ik im, galiþun ibukai jah gadrusun dalaþ.; — As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.; — ὡς οὖν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἐγώ εἰμι, ἀπῆλθον εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ ἔπεσαν χαμαί.
John 18:7: ^CA þaþroh þan ins aftra frah: hvana sokeiþ? iþ eis qeþun: Iesu, þana Nazoraiu.; — Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.; — πάλιν οὖν ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτούς, τίνα ζητεῖτε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν, ἰησοῦν τὸν ναζωραῖον.
John 18:8: ^CA andhof Iesus: qaþ izwis þatei ik im; jabai nu mik sokeiþ, letiþ þans gaggan.; — Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:; — ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι: εἰ οὖν ἐμὲ ζητεῖτε, ἄφετε τούτους ὑπάγειν:
John 18:9: ^CA ei usfullnodedi þata waurd þatei qaþ, ei þanzei atgaft mis, ni fraqistida ize ainummehun.; — That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.; — ἵνα πληρωθῇ ὁ λόγος ὃν εἶπεν ὅτι οὓς δέδωκάς μοι οὐκ ἀπώλεσα ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδένα.
John 18:10: ^CA iþ Seimon Paitrus habands hairu, uslauk ina jah sloh þis auhumistins gudjins skalk jah afmaimait imma auso taihswo; sah þan haitans was namin Malkus.; — Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.; — σίμων οὖν πέτρος ἔχων μάχαιραν εἵλκυσεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως δοῦλον καὶ ἀπέκοψεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτάριον τὸ δεξιόν. ἦν δὲ ὄνομα τῷ δούλῳ μάλχος.
John 18:11: ^CA þaruh qaþ Iesus du Paitrau: lagei þana hairu in fodr. stikl þanei gaf mis atta, niu drigkau þana?; — Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?; — εἶπεν οὖν ὁ ἰησοῦς τῷ πέτρῳ, βάλε τὴν μάχαιραν εἰς τὴν θήκην: τὸ ποτήριον ὃ δέδωκέν μοι ὁ πατὴρ οὐ μὴ πίω αὐτό;
John 18:12: ^CA þaruh hansa jah sa þusundifaþs jah andbahtos Iudaie undgripun Iesu jah gabundun ina,; — Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,; — ἡ οὖν σπεῖρα καὶ ὁ χιλίαρχος καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται τῶν ἰουδαίων συνέλαβον τὸν ἰησοῦν καὶ ἔδησαν αὐτὸν
John 18:13: ^CA jah gatauhun ina du Annin frumist; sa was auk swaihra Kajafin, saei was auhumists weiha þis ataþnjis.; — And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.; — καὶ ἤγαγον πρὸς ἅνναν πρῶτον: ἦν γὰρ πενθερὸς τοῦ καϊάφα, ὃς ἦν ἀρχιερεὺς τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου:
John 18:14: ^CA wasuh þan Kajafa, saei garaginoda Iudaium þatei batizo ist ainana mannan fraqistjan faur managein.; — Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.; — ἦν δὲ καϊάφας ὁ συμβουλεύσας τοῖς ἰουδαίοις ὅτι συμφέρει ἕνα ἄνθρωπον ἀποθανεῖν ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ.
John 18:15: ^CA þaruh laistida Iesu Seimon Paitrus jah anþar siponeis. sah þan siponeis was kunþs þamma gudjin jah miþinngalaiþ miþ Iesua in rohsn þis gudjins.; — And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.; — ἠκολούθει δὲ τῷ ἰησοῦ σίμων πέτρος καὶ ἄλλος μαθητής. ὁ δὲ μαθητὴς ἐκεῖνος ἦν γνωστὸς τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ, καὶ συνεισῆλθεν τῷ ἰησοῦ εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως,
John 18:16: ^CA iþ Paitrus stoþ at daurom uta. þaruh usiddja ut sa siponeis anþar, saei was kunþs þamma gudjin, jah qaþ daurawardai jah attauh inn Paitru.; — But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.; — ὁ δὲ πέτρος εἱστήκει πρὸς τῇ θύρᾳ ἔξω. ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ μαθητὴς ὁ ἄλλος ὁ γνωστὸς τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ εἶπεν τῇ θυρωρῷ καὶ εἰσήγαγεν τὸν πέτρον.
John 18:17: ^CA þaruh qaþ jaina þiwi, so daurawardo, du Paitrau: ibai jah þu þize siponje is þis mans? iþ is qaþ: ni im.; — Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.; — λέγει οὖν τῷ πέτρῳ ἡ παιδίσκη ἡ θυρωρός, μὴ καὶ σὺ ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν εἶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου; λέγει ἐκεῖνος, οὐκ εἰμί.
John 18:18: ^CA þaruh stoþun skalkos jah andbahtos haurja waurkjandans, unte kald was, jah warmidedun sik; jah þan was miþ im Paitrus standands jah warmjands sik.; — And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.; — εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ἀνθρακιὰν πεποιηκότες, ὅτι ψῦχος ἦν, καὶ ἐθερμαίνοντο: ἦν δὲ καὶ ὁ πέτρος μετ' αὐτῶν ἑστὼς καὶ θερμαινόμενος.
John 18:19: ^CA iþ sa auhumista gudja frah Iesu bi siponjans is jah bi laisein is.; — The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.; — ὁ οὖν ἀρχιερεὺς ἠρώτησεν τὸν ἰησοῦν περὶ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ περὶ τῆς διδαχῆς αὐτοῦ.
John 18:20: ^CA andhof imma Iesus: ik andaugjo rodida manasedai; ik sinteino laisida in gaqumþai jah in gudhusa, þarei sinteino Iudaieis gaqimand, jah þiubjo ni rodida waiht.; — Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.; — ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ἰησοῦς, ἐγὼ παρρησίᾳ λελάληκα τῷ κόσμῳ: ἐγὼ πάντοτε ἐδίδαξα ἐν συναγωγῇ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ, ὅπου πάντες οἱ ἰουδαῖοι συνέρχονται, καὶ ἐν κρυπτῷ ἐλάλησα οὐδέν.
John 18:21: ^CA hvis mik fraihnis? fraihn þans hausjandans hva rodidedjau du im; sai, þai witun þatei qaþ ik.; — Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.; — τί με ἐρωτᾷς; ἐρώτησον τοὺς ἀκηκοότας τί ἐλάλησα αὐτοῖς: ἴδε οὗτοι οἴδασιν ἃ εἶπον ἐγώ.
John 18:22: ^CA iþ þata qiþandin imma, sums andbahte <at>standands gaf slah lofin Iesua qaþuh: swau andhafjis þamma reikistin gudjin?; — And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?; — ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ εἰπόντος εἷς παρεστηκὼς τῶν ὑπηρετῶν ἔδωκεν ῥάπισμα τῷ ἰησοῦ εἰπών, οὕτως ἀποκρίνῃ τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ;
John 18:23: ^CA andhof <imma> Iesus: jabai ubilaba rodida, weitwodei bi þata ubil, aiþþau jabai waila, duhve mik slahis?; — Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?; — ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ἰησοῦς, εἰ κακῶς ἐλάλησα, μαρτύρησον περὶ τοῦ κακοῦ: εἰ δὲ καλῶς, τί με δέρεις;
John 18:24: ^CA þanuh insandida ina Annas gabundanana du Kajafin, þamma maistin gudjin.; — Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.; — ἀπέστειλεν οὖν αὐτὸν ὁ ἅννας δεδεμένον πρὸς καϊάφαν τὸν ἀρχιερέα.

They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.; — ἦν δὲ σίμων πέτρος ἑστὼς καὶ θερμαινόμενος. εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ, μὴ καὶ σὺ ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ εἶ; ἠρνήσατο ἐκεῖνος καὶ εἶπεν, οὐκ εἰμί.
John 18:26: ^CA qaþ sums þize skalke þis maistins gudjins, sah niþjis was þammei afmaimait Paitrus auso: niu þuk sahv ik in aurtigarda miþ imma?; — One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?; — λέγει εἷς ἐκ τῶν δούλων τοῦ ἀρχιερέως, συγγενὴς ὢν οὗ ἀπέκοψεν πέτρος τὸ ὠτίον, οὐκ ἐγώ σε εἶδον ἐν τῷ κήπῳ μετ' αὐτοῦ;
John 18:27: ^CA þaruh aftra afaiaik Paitrus, jah suns hana hrukida.; — Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.; — πάλιν οὖν ἠρνήσατο πέτρος: καὶ εὐθέως ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν.
John 18:28: ^CA iþ eis tauhun Iesu fram Kajafin in praitoriaun. þanuh was maurgins. iþ eis ni iddjedun in praitoria<un>, ei ni bisaulnodedeina, ak matidedeina pasxa.; — Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.; — ἄγουσιν οὖν τὸν ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ τοῦ καϊάφα εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον: ἦν δὲ πρωΐ: καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον, ἵνα μὴ μιανθῶσιν ἀλλὰ φάγωσιν τὸ πάσχα.
John 18:29: ^CA þaruh atiddja ut Peilatus du im jah qaþ: hvo wrohe bairiþ ana þana mannan?; — Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?; — ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ πιλᾶτος ἔξω πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ φησίν, τίνα κατηγορίαν φέρετε [κατὰ] τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου;
John 18:30: ^CA andhofun jah qeþun du imma: nih wesi sa ubiltojis, ni þau weis atgebeima þus ina.; — They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.; — ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, εἰ μὴ ἦν οὗτος κακὸν ποιῶν, οὐκ ἄν σοι παρεδώκαμεν αὐτόν.

The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:; — εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ πιλᾶτος, λάβετε αὐτὸν ὑμεῖς, καὶ κατὰ τὸν νόμον ὑμῶν κρίνατε αὐτόν. εἶπον αὐτῷ οἱ ἰουδαῖοι, ἡμῖν οὐκ ἔξεστιν ἀποκτεῖναι οὐδένα:
John 18:32: ^CA ei waurd fraujins usfullnodedi, þatei qaþ, bandwjands hvileikamma dauþau skulda gaswiltan.; — That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.; — ἵνα ὁ λόγος τοῦ ἰησοῦ πληρωθῇ ὃν εἶπεν σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ ἤμελλεν ἀποθνῄσκειν.
John 18:33: ^CA <þaruh> galaiþ in praitauria aftra Peilatus jah wopida Iesu qaþuh imma: þu is þiudans Iudaie?; — Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?; — εἰσῆλθεν οὖν πάλιν εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον ὁ πιλᾶτος καὶ ἐφώνησεν τὸν ἰησοῦν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν ἰουδαίων;
John 18:34: ^CA andhof Iesus: abu þus silbin þu þata qiþis þau anþarai þus qeþun bi mik?; — Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?; — ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, ἀπὸ σεαυτοῦ σὺ τοῦτο λέγεις ἢ ἄλλοι εἶπόν σοι περὶ ἐμοῦ;
John 18:35: ^CA andhof Peilatus: waitei ik Iudaius im? so þiuda þeina jah gudjans anafulhun þuk mis; hva gatawides?; — Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?; — ἀπεκρίθη ὁ πιλᾶτος, μήτι ἐγὼ ἰουδαῖός εἰμι; τὸ ἔθνος τὸ σὸν καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς παρέδωκάν σε ἐμοί: τί ἐποίησας;
John 18:36: ^CA andhof Iesus: þiudangardi meina nist us þamma fairhvau; iþ us þamma fairhvau wesi meina þiudangardi, aiþþau andbahtos meinai usdaudidedeina, ei ni galewiþs wesjau Iudaium. iþ nu þiudangardi meina nist þaþro.; — Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.; — ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου: εἰ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἦν ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμή, οἱ ὑπηρέται οἱ ἐμοὶ ἠγωνίζοντο [ἄν], ἵνα μὴ παραδοθῶ τοῖς ἰουδαίοις: νῦν δὲ ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐντεῦθεν.
John 18:37: ^CA þaruh qaþ imma Peilatus: an nuh þiudans is þu? andhafjands Iesus <qaþ>: þu qiþis ei þiudans im ik. ik du þamma gabaurans im jah du þamma qam in þamma fairhvau ei weitwodjau sunjai. hvazuh saei ist sunjos, hauseiþ stibnos meinaizos.; — Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.; — εἶπεν οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ πιλᾶτος, οὐκοῦν βασιλεὺς εἶ σύ; ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἰησοῦς, σὺ λέγεις ὅτι βασιλεύς εἰμι. ἐγὼ εἰς τοῦτο γεγέννημαι καὶ εἰς τοῦτο ἐλήλυθα εἰς τὸν κόσμον, ἵνα μαρτυρήσω τῇ ἀληθείᾳ: πᾶς ὁ ὢν ἐκ τῆς ἀληθείας ἀκούει μου τῆς φωνῆς.
John 18:38: ^CA þanuh qaþ imma Peilatus: hva ist so sunja! jah þata qiþands <aftra> galaiþ ut du Iudaium jah qaþ im: ik ainohun fairino ni bigita in þamma.; — Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.; — λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ πιλᾶτος, τί ἐστιν ἀλήθεια; καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν πάλιν ἐξῆλθεν πρὸς τοὺς ἰουδαίους, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, ἐγὼ οὐδεμίαν εὑρίσκω ἐν αὐτῷ αἰτίαν.
John 18:39: ^CA iþ ist biuhti izwis ei ainana izwis fraletau in pasxa; wileidu nu ei fraletau izwis þana þiudan Iudaie?; — But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?; — ἔστιν δὲ συνήθεια ὑμῖν ἵνα ἕνα ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ πάσχα: βούλεσθε οὖν ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν τὸν βασιλέα τῶν ἰουδαίων;
John 18:40: ^CA iþ eis hropidedun aftra allai qiþandans: ne þana, ak Barabban; sah þan was sa Barabba waidedja.; — Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.; — ἐκραύγασαν οὖν πάλιν λέγοντες, μὴ τοῦτον ἀλλὰ τὸν βαραββᾶν. ἦν δὲ ὁ βαραββᾶς λῃστής.
